TESTIMONIES:

"It has been such a great experience working with Mark. I have always been interested in music and after taking my daughter to Martha's Early Childhood Music classes I realized that I wanted to bring more live music into the home. Learning to play guitar is a great avenue for this and I soon expect to be strumming songs around the campfire!" "Open Door Music has created an excellent environment for our daughter, Kate, to explore her interest in guitar. The fun, interactive lessons, positive reinforcement, and caring teaching style have increased Kate's motivation for this instrument. I highly recommend it!" "My son, Sammy had a wonderful experience learning guitar. It opened up for him a new way to appreciate music. He is now eager to create his own music, using the skills he's learned. The relaxed and warm atmosphere gave him the confidence to continue to learn and play."
"Mark has been a fantastic instructor with my son, Mason! He's super with kids and Mason really enjoyed his lessons - both learning from Mark and talking to him too. So that's a bonus in my books!"

Frequently Asked Questions:

What age do you recommend beginning guitar lessons?
Because of the fine motor skill and dexterity involved in guitar playing, we suggest that students be at least 7 years old.

What size of guitar does my child need and do you supply them?
Many children under the age of 10 will need what's called a 'half size' guitar. Occasionally, a 'three-quarter' size guitar is a better fit. Mark is available for advice on that decision. We have some half-size guitars available to rent at a cost of $10 for 8 weeks.

If I have to miss a class what is your policy on makeup classes?
If a lesson must be cancelled, leave a message on the office phone, 905-628-0330, and the instructor will be contacted. One free makeup class is allowed per 8 wk session if the cancellation is given at least 24 hours prior to the lesson..

Do the parents stay in the classroom during the lesson?
Our experience has been that children are more focused when parents are not present. You can certainly wait outside the room.

Do you teach adults?
Absolutely!
